Shakti Mohan was born on 12th October 1985 to a middle-class Hindu family in Delhi. Her father Brijmohan Sharma is a government employee and her mother Kusum Mohan is a housewife. She got her early education from boarding school Birla Balika Vidyapeeth in Pilani Rajasthan, and then she got enrolled in Miranda House of Delhi University for her graduation in Arts.

Shakti obtained her degree of post-graduation from St’ Xavier College Mumbai. She develops an immense interest in dancing at an early age; she got her dancing training from Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute.
